Frequently Asked Questions

A UCITS (Undertaking for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities) is a collective investment scheme in securities. It comes in two main categories:

  • SICAV (investment company with variable capital)
  • FCP (common investment fund)

Harvest Asset Management offers four main categories of funds based on your profile and objectives:

  • Money Market Funds: very low risk, ideal for investing your short-term cash.
  • Bond Funds: exposure to government and corporate bonds, with a medium-term horizon.
  • Equity Funds: investment in listed stocks, long-term horizon with high return potential.
  • Diversified Funds: combination of assets to balance risk and performance.

Net asset value is the price of one unit or share of a UCITS at a given moment. It is calculated by dividing the fund's net assets (total portfolio value minus fees) by the number of units or shares outstanding. Subscriptions and redemptions are carried out based on this NAV.

UCITS offer many benefits for investors:

  • Accessibility: invest from as little as 10,000 CFA francs, without needing extensive financial expertise.
  • Diversification: your savings are spread across multiple assets, which reduces the impact of any single underperforming investment.
  • Professional management: a team of experienced fund managers makes investment decisions on your behalf.
  • Liquidity: you can redeem your units at any time, subject to the fund's terms.
  • Transparency: net asset values are published regularly, and management reports are available.
  • Regulatory security: funds are approved and supervised by COSUMAF (the Central African Financial Market Supervisory Commission).

Like any financial investment, UCITS have certain limitations to be aware of:

  • They are subject to market fluctuations.
  • Investors do not have direct control over investment decisions.
  • Performance: past performance does not guarantee future results.

All investments carry risks. Here are the main risks to be aware of:

  • Market risk: the value of the assets in the portfolio may fluctuate up or down depending on the movements of financial markets.
  • Interest rate risk: a rise in interest rates may cause the value of bonds held in the fund to decline.
  • Credit risk (or counterparty risk): risk of default by an issuer (government or corporation) that fails to meet its obligations.
  • Liquidity risk: under certain market conditions, it may be difficult to sell some assets quickly at the desired price.
  • Currency risk: for funds invested outside the CFA zone, unfavorable currency movements may impact performance.
  • Operational risk: risk related to internal or external failures in the management process.

Our investment process incorporates a rigorous risk management approach based on several pillars: diversification of investments across different issuers and maturities, in-depth macroeconomic analysis of the CEMAC region and international markets, daily monitoring of issuer-specific risks, and strict adherence to the exposure limits set out in the fund prospectuses.

No, capital invested in a UCITS is not guaranteed, unless otherwise stated in the fund's prospectus. However, diversification and professional management aim to limit potential losses. We recommend that you invest according to your risk profile and with a time horizon consistent with the nature of the fund you choose.
